This year’s National Education Association Representative Assembly takes place June 30-July 5 in Boston.
Region 6’s leaders are working to increase the region and state’s impact on NEA policy decisions by increasing the size and engagement of the region’s RA delegation. To encourage Region 6 locals to participate in the NEA RA, the Region 6 board of directors has approved funding to pay the stipends of five Region 6 NEA RA delegates. Each stipend could total as much as $2,000.
Each local can select one member to participate in a lottery for one of the five funded slots by filling out a funding nomination form in that member’s name and emailing it to Region 6 President Mark Lindsey at email@example.com. The lottery will randomly select one member from each of Region 6’s five zones to receive the funding. This year, Region 6 will hold one slot open for racial and ethnic minority delegates before drawing names by zone. Any minority delegate who is not selected in the minority drawing will also be entered into the zone drawing.
The deadline for locals to submit member names to the Region 6 Executive Committee is March 15, 2017. The lottery selection will occur at the following executive committee meeting. If a zone has no potential delegates by the March 15 deadline, unselected members from all zones will be eligible to request the unclaimed funding.
If you have questions, please call the Region 6 office at 1-800-397-2287, or email President Lindsey at firstname.lastname@example.org.
