Due to concern over the spread of COVID-19 (also called novel coronavirus) in Wisconsin, all WEAC Region 6 in-person events and meetings scheduled from March 12 to April 15, 2020, have been postponed indefinitely.
This includes the Disrupted Learning Forum that had been scheduled for March 18 at Blackhawk Technical College in Janesville, and our region’s Local Leaders, Love and Logic, National Board Certification and executive committee meetings.
Region 6 leaders and staff appreciate your interest in these events and the issues they address. Please contact your local’s Director to discuss possible local support and actions if there is an immediate need in the time before our events can resume.
A note about postponing. Recommendations are to avoid any large group events or meetings to limit the exposure and spread of the coronavirus. We are honoring those recommendations and believe in any case that the distractions brought on by this pandemic would undermine the value members would ordinarily gain from the events. Supporting our students and educators is still our priority and we will resume our work once we get through this public health crisis.
Clearly, we are in an unusual and fast-moving situation, and there is much uncharted territory as we gauge the impact on our work, students, families and lives. Please email or call the Region 6 office at 1-800-397-2287 with any questions or concerns you have. We all want to support each other as much as we can, and your union is part of that network of support.
